St. John Baptist de La Salle
(30 April 1651 - 7 April 1719)

Today, we commemorate the 302nd death anniversary of our Founder, St. John Baptist de La Salle. He is the patron saint of teachers.

Every year, we celebrate the life and work of our Founder who passed away on Good Friday, 7 April 1719. Throughout his life, St. La Salle lived, prayed and worked his entire life in the area of education especially for the poor. He lived and role-modelled the way for Lasallians to be a Man of Integrity and Man for Others. 302 years on, the Lasallian mission and legacy continue in more than 80 countries around the world.

We hail you, St. John Baptist de La Salle, the first Lasallian!

Happy Founder’s Day!

It's Good Friday today. This is an important day in the Christian calendar when we commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus and his death, in atonement for our sins.

Our students experienced a very unique Stations of the Cross this week, as we brought them on a mini "pilgrimage" to contemplate Jesus' journey to his crucifixion, and got them to reflect on the contemporary issues facing our world and society today. For example, they saw how the "cross" of climate change is being carried disproportionately by poor as they suffer from the harmful impact caused by the rich.

As our students are the hope for the future, we hope that they follow Jesus' example and have the courage to help each other and to make a difference to society and the world

Maundy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper, Jesus’ last meal with his disciples. On that day, he washed their feet – an act usually performed by servants. Through reflection on this, our girls thought about how each of us can set aside our pride to serve others with deep humility.

As Maundy Thursday too marks the end of Lent, a time for prayer, fasting and charity, we were glad to provide our girls with an opportunity to bless others. Our girls were encouraged to set aside a portion of their pocket money each day this week to donate a total of a dollar to the less fortunate.

Collections were done on a class basis this morning, and we collected about $5000 to be given the IJ Homes and Children's Centre! Thank you, girls and teachers, for your generosity!
